I had no clue what career path I wanted to pursue coming out of high school, and decided to enter university with an undeclared major. This gave me the opportunity to really explore different topics and learn what interested me at the university level without any prejudices (because let me tell you, my chemistry-loving high school self was not prepared for the hellish experience of Chem 102). After a rough first year of uni I discovered two fields that I am incessantly enthralled with— psychology and linguistics— and I declared these as my major and minor, respectfully. I am now in my last year of undergrad and in the midst of applying to speech-language pathology master’s programs across Canada, as this is a career path where my two passions intersect, and I’m so excited about it!
Favourite Class: CSD 211, Linguistics 310, and Psychology 403
Advice for 1st Years: Stop and smell the roses. Your time in undergrad flies by! Learn from the hard experiences you’ll encounter, enjoy the fun ones, and strike up random conversations with the people you sit next to in class. Oh also, join TEP :)
Hangout Spot on Campus: John W. Scott Health Sciences Library and CCIS
Extracurricular
The main extracurricular for most of my life has been playing soccer, both recreationally and competitively. I went to provincials 6 times with my minor soccer team, securing medals in each of those competitions (2 of which were gold)! My love for the sport naturally lead me into refereeing soccer at the provincial level; so during the outdoor and indoor seasons, chances are you’ll find me on the soccer pitch! I balance that activity with an obscene amount of baking… if you ever need a recipe for wicked bagels or any type of bread, I’m your girl!

Current obsessions: learning the ukulele and Taylor Swift’s entire discography.
Dream travel destination: someone take me to Greece, please and thank you.
Favourite food: varies A LOT, but right now it’s shakshouka!
Why TEP?
The topic of domestic violence continues to be a pervasive topic in our society, and yet it is still not talked about enough. I want to help make a difference on this front, and joined TEP because I knew that we could start advocating and educating our community, which will lead to making a lasting impact. This group is also made up of some of the most kind and welcoming individuals I’ve ever met, and I know we’re going to be able to do some really amazing things!
