Academics

I’m in the Bachelor of Arts majoring in psychology. Psychology, specifically clinical psychology, is something I’ve been wanting to pursue since 9th grade. Mental health is a very important topic, especially during the last couple years. In most cases mental health isn’t taken seriously or is misrepresented. I want to do my part in educating and empowering people over this very important topic. One of my favourite classes is unsurprisingly abnormal psychology. It gives a good introduction to the world of clinical psychology and is overall very interesting.

Favourite Class: Psychology 239

Advice for a 1st Year: Get yourself out there! University is extremely tough, but having friends to study or hang out with will really ease the stress. Join clubs, talk to the people in your class, or join a group chat/discord!

Hangout Spot on CampusCCIS or Cameron Library!

Extracirricular

For hobbies, I like to read, write, and watch movies. I’ve also been trying to get into new hobbies while being in quarantine, like embroidering and crocheting. I also go on walks and hikes with my family and dog.

Future Aspirations: I want to become a clinical psychologist for children and teens. I also want to open my own clinic someday!

Favourite Holiday: Christmas is definitely my favourite! I love shopping for people’s gifts and eating the delicious food my family cooks!

Why TEP?

I chose to do The Empowerment Project because of what we stand for. Domestic abuse has been increasing since the start of the pandemic. It can happen to anyone; family members, loved ones, etc. I want to do my part to help the community, no matter how little of a difference it makes.
